Warning... the video below is very graphic and disturbing!

Tragic car accident involving US$1.43 million (SG$1.8 million) Ferrari 599 GTO in Singapore leave three dead on May 13, 2012. Reports say the Ferrari was going over 180km/h when it t-boned a taxi at the intersection:

Watch the Mediacorp 5 news report:

Saw the video on CarScoop.blogspot.com with the following report:

A horrific accident that took place in Singapore this past Saturday leaving three people dead and two seriously injured has fueled an outrage in the country.

The crash was captured on film by a vehicle that was not involved in the incident. The video footage shows a blue Hyundai Sonata taxicab pulling ahead a couple of seconds after the green light goes on.

As the taxi reaches the middle of the crossing, we see a speeding red car, later recognized as a rare Sg$1.8 million (US$1.43 million) Ferrari 599 GTO, smashing into the blue sedan. The Ferrari most likely ran a red light. According to reports, the taxi then hit a motorcyclist.

The Ferrari driver, who was identified as Ma Chi, an affluent 31-year old Chinese expatriate, died on the scene, while the 51-year old cabbie, Cheng Teck Hoc, and his passenger, Shigemi Ito, a 41-year-old Japanese woman, succumbed to their injuries a couple of hours later at the hospital.

The young female passenger of the Ferrari, Wu Wei Wei, a student from Wuhan, China, and the motorcyclist, were injured and remain hospitalized.

The Associated Press reported that the accident has sparked a strong "anti-foreign sentiment" throughout the country with many people posting online attacks on Chinese and other foreigners as well the government's immigration policies.

Singapore, a small city-state of about 650 square km, saw its population rise from 4.4 million people in 2006 to 5.2 million last year, mainly due to immigration. Officials estimate that there are more than a million immigrants in Singapore today.

It is very terrible what happen to the innocent victims in this tragic incident caused by a seemingly reckless and foolish man. But what is also terrible is how some people are using this tragic incident to further their political agenda. The fool behind the wheel of the Ferrari could have been from anywhere. Yet certain demagogues are quick to point out that he was a foreigner. Thus claiming this is proof for a more restricted immigration policy. Remember, a person that uses a tragedy for political gain and who seeks support by appealing to popular desires and prejudices rather than by using rational argument is considered as a demagogue. The good people of Singapore should not soil their souls listening to the demagogues. And the good people of Singapore should beware of the dangers of demagoguery. For the dangers and to understand the damage that a single silver tongue demagogue can cause see Germany circa 1933-1945. Rational Singaporeans should be brave and tell the few demagogues in their midst spewing hate and bring international shame to their good country to "fuck off!"

BLAME THE MAN FOR HIS FUCKUPS, NOT HIS FAMILY, RACE OR NATIONALITY...

Grammy-winning singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her North London home of suspected drug overdose. In 2006, the singer took home five Grammy Awards for her multi-million-selling album, Back to Black. She had struggled with drug and alcohol addiction for years and had a recent stint in rehab this past May to prepare for her latest tour. The troubled singer had been in and out of rehab multiple times, even singing songs about how she would not go. Unfortunately today the Daily Mail broke the news that Amy Winehouse was found dead in her flat at the young age of 27. The Daily Mail report:

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said: 'Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased.

'On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene.

'Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.’

Okay, we all saw this coming and everyone knew this day was coming. It is no surprise... Amy Winehouse gave us some good posts over the years and that will be missed. Hopefully now she is going to the big rehab in the sky.

1932 – 2011

Academy Award winning actress Elizabeth Taylor passed away today at Los Angeles, Calif.'s Cedars-Sinai Hospital at the age of 79. At around 1:30 a.m. this morning, she died of symptoms caused by congestive heart failure. "She was surrounded by her children- Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd, and Maria Burton," Taylor's publicist, Sally Morrison, said in a statement. In addition to her children, Taylor is survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

One of the most beautiful screen legends in her era, Elizabeth Taylor won double Oscars for starring in Butterfield 8 in 1960, opposite Eddie Fisher and for Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf in 1966, alongside Richard Burton. In 1963, she memorably starred in "Cleopatra." Taylor later in life became notorious for her seven marriages and sometimes eccentric behavior. Most people only have a memory of Elizabeth as a frail old woman being pushed around in a wheelchair but in her day she was one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood history. CNN report:
Taylor died "peacefully today in Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles," said a statement from her publicist. She was hospitalized six weeks ago with congestive heart failure, "a condition with which she had struggled for many years. Though she had recently suffered a number of complications, her condition had stabilized and it was hoped that she would be able to return home. Sadly, this was not to be."

Though a two-time Oscar winner -- for "Butterfield 8" (1960) and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" (1966) -- Taylor was more celebrated for simply being Elizabeth Taylor: sexy, glamorous, tempestuous, fragile, always trailing courtiers, media and fans. She wasn't above playing to that image -- she had a fragrance called "White Diamonds" -- or mocking it.

"I am a very committed wife," she once said. "And I should be committed too -- for being married so many times."

Elizabeth Taylor
, of course, starred in Cleopatra which made her the first Hollywood star to earn a $1 million salary. Beyond acting, Taylor is credited with bringing the world's attention to AIDS with her fund-raising and activism. In 1985, when Taylor's lifelong friend Rock Hudson died of AIDS, she brought national attention to the growing disease. It satisfying to her to use her celebrity for good - she raised and donated millions to the cause, founding the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) and The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.

Taylor reported in October 2009 that she was having a heart procedure done. Via Twitter, she said it was "very new and involves repairing my leaky valve using a clip device, without open heart surgery so that my heart will function better." Taylor was again hospitalized six weeks ago with congestive heart failure. Though she had recently suffered a number of complications, her condition had stabilized and it was hoped that she would be able to return home.

"I never planned to acquire a lot of jewels or a lot of husbands," Taylor said. "I have been supremely lucky in my life in that I have known great love, and of course, I am the temporary custodian of some incredible and beautiful things."
